Commute to Brisbane remains clogged after four morning crashes

Traffic on a major southeast Queensland highway remains bumper-to-bumper following four crashes which halted all southbound traffic this morning.

Traffic on a major highway continues to crawl six hours after a spate of four crashes unfolded this morning, forcing the closure of all southbound lanes towards Brisbane.

All southbound lanes of traffic on the Bruce Highway were closed for almost an hour this morning as emergency services attended two crashes on the highway at Burpengary.

Major congestion remains on the Bruce Highway from Beerwah through to Strathpine.

A three-car crash on the Bruce Highway southbound past Uhlmann Road just after 7am left a woman aged in her 60s entrapped, with police forced to close all southbound traffic for an hour.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesperson said a woman in her 50s was also taken in a stable condition to the Royal Brisbane and Woman’s Hospital with potential leg and head injuries.

Forty minutes later emergency services were called to a two-car nose-to-tail crash on the highway near Junction Rd at Burpengary East.

One patient was taken in a stable condition to the Royal Brisbane and Woman’s Hospital as a result of that incident.

A Queensland Police spokesperson confirmed one lane of southbound traffic has since reopened.

After 6am a traffic crash in Dakabin also closed right-hand lanes both northbound and southbound on the highway, after the crash on the median strip.

Both the right-hand lanes north and south remain closed at Dakabin.

And at North Lakes at 6.15am, high acuity response team and critical care paramedics were called to a motorcycle crash southbound on the Bruce Highway.

The patient was taken in a serious but stable condition.
