A beloved family of 14, including a six-week-old baby and an 87-year-old grandmother, has lost everything to the rising floodwaters.
Family friend Dana Somerfield has created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the Caboolture family.
“The family consists of four generations – a great grandmother, her daughter, three grand daughters and grandson-in-laws and their seven children,” Ms Somerfield said.
“The family currently cares for their grandmother who suffers from dementia and had a baby six weeks ago.”
The family, described by their loved ones as ‘hardworking’, will need community support to find a new home.
They will also be working to replace all of their vehicles, furniture and personal belongings.
“They are known to help anyone and everyone who need a hand but are too proud to ask for help themselves,” Ms Somerfield said.
“So I have started this GoFundMe to assist this amazing family in beginning to rebuild their lives after this devastating event.
“Any donation will be gratefully appreciated.”
Kaylah Tyson, a member of the family, also shared the GoFundMe page.
“My sisters Toya, Kaydi and their families, including Aunty Dawn Enoch-Murphy had to be rescued and have lost their cars, homes and everything in them,” she said.
“If it’s in your capacity to pitch in, please help. Every little bit counts.”
La-Toya Enoch confirmed the family was safe and looking for accommodation.
Kaydi Enoch, who just six weeks ago gave birth to her daughter, said she was grateful to her friend for starting the page.
“Our lovely friend has started this GFM to help us out. Please assist if you can,” she said.
Rangi Brown said it was an extremely stressful time.
“Don’t even have the words to explain how stressful this is for my family,” she said.
“We are all safe and warm.
“So very thankful to everyone who has helped us and are still continuing to help these couple of days.
“Any Koha (donation) will be greatly appreciated.”
It is understood the family is originally from New Zealand.
Natasha Hamilton also shared the fundraiser, saying the family was ‘Orlando mob’.
“This family have been giving and supporting people for many years,” she said.
“Time for us to give back.”
