A Brisbane mother’s trip to Kmart to buy her son clothes was a costly one, after she was fined $500 for driving without a licence.

Keharni Rose Cutmore, 24, faced Caboolture Magistrate Court on August 16, charged with driving without a licence as a repeat offender.

The court heard on July 7, 2022, police patrolling around Morayfield Shopping Centre had their attention drawn to the excessive revving of a vehicle driven by Cutmore.

Police followed and intercepted Cutmore on the roof level carpark of the shopping centre, whose learner licence had expired 1,860 days ago.

Police prosecutor Tia Herd said Cutmore drove her boyfriend’s car, who was away in Toowoomba, from a Caboolture address to the shopping centre.

Cutmore’s defence lawyer Tim Hishon said Cutmore has two children aged six and two, completed Year 11 at Beerwah State High School and has very limited support from the father of the two-year-old.

“She has gone to the Department of Transport and paid $187 for a learner licence which is good for three years,” Mr Hishon said.

Magistrate Peter Hasted fined Cutmore $500 and disqualified her from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for two months.

A conviction was recorded.
