Caboolture South man charged after allegedly aiming a gun at police from a stolen car

A 30-year-old man, who allegedly aimed a gun at police, while trying to get away in a stolen car, will remain behind bars until his next court date.

Toby Michael Silvia, 30, has been charged with 10 offences after allegedly stealing a car, evading police and pointing a gun at police officers.

The Caboolture South man was arrested yesterday at about 2.30pm.

Police allege they first tried to intercept Silvia while he was driving a stolen car around Del Rossa Rd in Caboolture at about 10am on Wednesday.

It is further alleged he evaded police by travelling west on the D’Aguilar Highway towards Woodford where the driver allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it through the window at police.

Police allege the driver then drove the vehicle off-road into the forestry, abandoned the car and tried to escape on foot.

The man was located on a nearby rural property by police at around 2.30pm.

Silvia’s matter was heard in the Caboolture Magistrates Court this morning.

He is charged with breaching bail, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, evading police, driving while on a disqualified licence, three counts of serious assault of a police officer while pretending to be armed with a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, possessing explosives.

Silvia did not appear before the court and did not apply for bail.

Magistrate Blanch remanded him in custody and adjourned the matter until August 10.
