Burpengary Meadows State School’s Nicole Watt claims Caboolture’s Best Teacher award

A teacher who has nurtured youngsters for more than a decade has heaped praise on her ‘amazing’ students after being voted the community’s best educator.

She has been an integral part of her school community for more than a decade, now this Caboolture teacher has another special moment to add to her long list of highlights in the industry.

Nicole Watt from Burpengary Meadows State School has been named the winner of The Courier-Mail’s Best Teacher in the Caboolture/Bribie Island area after being receiving the most votes from readers.

Ms Watt, who taught all grades at her 10 years at the school from Prep to Year 6, said receiving the award felt “absolutely amazing”.

“I’m just really, really honoured and amazed to receive positive feedback from so many people means a lot, it’s a shock to be honest,” she said.

“I absolutely love this school and this school community.

“I’ve been here just over 10 years and I never want to leave.

“I’ve had the pleasure of teaching all grades here and I love the students we have come through here and the staff and everyone involved, just makes it feel like such a special community.”

After impacting the lives of so many youngsters in the community, The 40-year-old Caboolture resident said her goal was just to always prioritise the students and their needs to make sure they felt supported.

“My goal is always to help them become great citizens of society, ensure they try their best and maintain a positive environment so they can appreciate the world around them,” Ms Watt said.

“I love teaching, just the joy and love these young students bring is special, they look up to you and make you feel loved and valued as well.

“It’s always a highlight when you see those light bulb moments in students when they work through something difficult and achieve something meaningful.

“They’re such beautiful little humans that make you feel happy.”
