A family is praying for a miracle and police are searching for answers after a man was struck by a car north of Brisbane on Monday morning.
Northgate man Tommy Dinneen is in intensive care after the alleged hit and run at Kippa Ring.
Paramedics, including critical care and the High Acuity Response Unit, were called to Klinger Road just after 1.00am.
Police have revealed a vehicle believed to be a white Ford Falcon XR6 was travelling westbound on Klingner Road when it hit the Northgate man between Boardman Road and Brunel Street.
Three men were seen getting back in the vehicle before it left the scene.
Mr Dinneen was seriously injured as a result of the collision and suffered multiple broken bones.
He was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
His mother Karen Goullet confirmed the shocking news writing: “My 25-year-old son, my Tom, was hit by a car … and he is now in ICU in a critical condition in the RWBH.”
“He is ventilated and has many injuries but we are praying for the miracle.
“We know he can make it.”
Ms Goullet went on to thank friends for their “kind words and offers”.
“My boy is a fighter and I know he will wake up and be okay I can feel it in my soul.
“ Life throws you curveballs a lot, you just have to keep swinging and do the best you can.
“We cannot change what has happened we can only concentrate on his recovery.”
His brother Sam Cooper urged “anyone (who) knows anything about what happened, no matter how insignificant to “do the right thing” and contact police.
Police say it’s possible the car involved may have been damaged on its right side after a nearby witness threw a bat at it as it was driven away.
Officers are urging anyone who may have been the vicinity of Klingner Rd at the time of the incident, or have dashcam, to come forward.
Meantime, support has been flooding in for the tight-knit family.
”Thinking of you all at this stressful time,” Roslyn Campbell wrote
“Oh my gosh, that is such terrible news. Stay strong. Reach out to your community for any help at all,” Stephanie Emma said.
Family member Melinda Goullet said “Thinking of you all, wishing tom a speedy recovery.”
His mum Karen is well-known for her work with animals.
Ms Goullet and her husband Jamie, foster elderly dogs at their property in Morayfield.
The duo dedicating their lives to help golden oldies see out their years in a happy and loving environment.
They have welcomed more than 50 dogs into their two acre home so far.
But for now, Mr Dinneen’s family will continue to pray as police search for answers and those responsible.
