A Magistrate has sentenced a 70-year-old Deception Bay man with an apparent disregard for road rules and court orders to 12 months imprisonment.
Aea Asailepoto Falua appeared in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on July 1 and pleaded guilty to five traffic offences.
The court heard witnesses called police on April 6, 2020, after spotting Falua drive through a red light at the busy intersection of Deception Bay and Lipscombe roads, Deception Bay.
He then drove over a traffic island.

Police attended and conducted a roadside breath test where Falua returned a reading of 0.15 per cent.
Further checks revealed the car was unregistered and uninsured.
On April 30, 2020 at Jesse Court Deception Bay, police found Falua behind the wheel of a car – despite his licence being suspended.
Falua was charged with driving while on a suspended license under section 79B (which is equivalent to disqualified driving), drink driving, driving an unregistered and uninsured car and failing to stop at a red light.
Magistrate Bucknall told the court Falua had an “appalling traffic history” and this was his eighth disqualified driving charge. The most recent was in 2011, with others dating back to 2003.
“The road rules just don’t seem to apply to this bloke,” Magistrate Bucknall said.
He noted that all sentencing options had been tried before, including fines, community service and suspended sentences.
“He just doesn’t seem to get the message,” Magistrate Bucknall said.
“I don't think this bloke should be driving again to be honest.”
Falua was sentenced to 12 months, with a parole release date set for the same day, July 1.
He was also fined $2000 and disqualified from driving for 30 months.
“If there is a next time you are going to jail,” Magistrate Bucknall warned Falua.
