A PUBLIC masturbator, whose dirty actions near a Brisbane playground left nearby children in tears, has faced court.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Shane Stephenson described Ngoc Loi Le’s actions as being close to the worst example of indecent conduct, as his actions were seen by a three-year-old girl.
Le pleaded guilty to one count of committing an indecent act in a public place at Richlands Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The court was told Le was seen in an undercover storage area at the Old Inala Hall on February 24.
At the time, the hall was being used by child safety services for supervised visits between parents.
Sgt Stephenson told the court a mother and her three-year-old girl saw Le lying on his back without a shirt and his shorts around his ankles.
“His genitalia were fully exposed, his penis was erect and he was using his hand to stroke it up and down repeatedly in a masturbatory manner,” Sgt Stephenson said.
“The girl asked her mother what the defendant was doing.”
Le was confronted by a parent and the police were called.
He was found sitting on a makeshift mattress, surrounded by 30 empty wine bottles.
“Police saw upset children crying in the park, the adults stated it’s because of what they saw the defendant was doing,” Sgt Stephenson said.
“This would be close to the worst example of this type of conduct, done within the vicinity of a children’s playground and a child actually saw the indecent and asked her mother what was happening.”
Magistrate Stuart Shearer ordered Le to be taken to the holding cells to await representation by the duty lawyer.
Duty lawyer Patrick Horgan later requested an adjournment to find an interpreter.
Le will return to court on Friday. He faces a maximum penalty of two years’ jail.
