A magistrate has blasted a young woman who demolished the front fence of a house in Brisbane’s southwest after she lost control of her car following a drinking session.

Brunelle Leko, who blew 0.104 or twice the legal limit, faced Richlands Magistrates Court today on a charge of driving over the middle alcohol limit.

The Blunder Rd, Doolandella homeowner raced out of their bedroom about 6.30am on October 31 to find Leko’s car perpendicular to the road after smashing into his fence, the court heard.

The police prosecutor said Leko admitted to police who arrived at the scene that she had been drinking for several hours before going out to get food for some friends.

He said an ambulance, tow truck and firefighters were on the scene when police arrived at the single-vehicle crash.

Police noticed the tyres of Leko’s Mitsubishi were very bald and she told them she was going to get them fixed later in the week.

“You have emphatically demonstrated what a risk you are to others on the road,’’ Magistrate Stuart Shearer told her.

“Drink driving cannot be tolerated. You could have crashed through the front door.’’

Leko, who was on a provisional licence at the time, told Mr Shearer she had since contacted the property owner and offered to pay for the fence.

Mr Shearer fined Leko $1500, disqualified her from driving for eight months and recorded a conviction.
