Zac White: Teen hoon who challenged police to ‘bull rush’ slapped with six-year driving ban

A teenage self-described hoon who almost hit a cyclist when he ‘panicked’ and fled from police had challenged cops to a race in the months leading up to his case, a court has heard.

A teenager and self-described hoon who led police on a car chase through Logan was disqualified from driving for six years following a sentencing at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday.

Zac White, 19, pleaded guilty to seven charges including evading police, driving without due care or attention, driving while disqualified and possession of dangerous drugs.

According to police prosecutor Sergeant Sharon Mauritz, the most serious of the offending occurred on October 5, when White was driving to a concert.

Zac White said he 'panicked' when he saw police and took off to avoid arrest.

The court heard White “panicked” when he saw a police car at 11.20pm because he had MDMA in the car and was driving on a court-disqualified license.

In a frenzied attempt to avoid arrest, White did a U-turn into oncoming traffic, switched off his headlights and nearly collided with a cyclist.

“The person on the bike had to stop to prevent being hit,” Sgt Mauritz told the court.

“(White) failed to give way to traffic and failed to stop at two sets of red traffic lights.”

Polair was called to track the driver and White was ultimately detained when he tried to decamp from the vehicle and make a run for it.

The Magistrate warned White his actions could have easily resulted in the death of innocent passers-by and told him if he were to ever return to court on similar charges he can “expect to get locked up, it’s as simple as that”.

White was convicted and fined $6672.5 for the evasion offence.

He was fined an additional $3300 for the remaining offences, for a total of $9972.50, and disqualified from driving for a total of six years.

In the months leading up to his court appearance White tagged the Queensland Police Service in a number of status updates in which he called them “b***h c***s” and challenged them to “a massive game of bulrush (sic)”, referring to bull rush, a child’s chasing game.
