Woodridge State High School student Michael Heynatz is the Albert and Local News Local Sports Star Inspiration award winner.
Heynatz was crowned at ta gala dinner held at the Queensland Cricketers Club last night.
Heynatz has managed to march through life after suffering from meningococcal aged 10 months.

He swims and runs and is a general inspiration not only to his own family, but the wider community.
Michael’s father Athol said after a recent story on his son in the Albert and Logan News, the grandmother of a boy with autism approached him in the street. .
She said she told her grandson: “I know you have challenges, but look at this boy,’’ pointing to the page 1 photo of Michael.
“I have had so many positive things come from the article,’’ Mr Heynatz said.
“Michael is aware the more he gets out and does things, he inspires others who might be having a hard time.’’

Michael thanked the Woodridge SHS community for their support of him, and in particular teacher Tanya Beths. “In terms of sport, Miss Beths has certainly done a lot for me.
“She has made me and a few of my other friends more involved in swimming and athletics.
“They (Woodridge SHS) have supported me in a way can’t really explain’’.
Guest speaker at last night’s event, former Australian, Queensland and NRL premiership winning captain Scott Prince, made a beeline for Heynatz after the event, wanting to get a photo with him.
