A man arrested in a dramatic takedown by police, which was caught on camera, after allegedly breaking into a Logan service station has been identified following his appearance in court.

Officers arrested 29-year-old Edens Landing man Aaron Lee Beard after he allegedly attempted to break into a tobacco store at Ormeau.

Police alleged he also broke into a service station at Eagleby in the early hours of the morning on July 3.

Police bodyworn camera footage of the arrest outside the Distillery Rd service station showed a man charging towards an officer as they arrived at the service station.

In the video, the officer can be seen throwing a man to the ground before being joined by more officers who detained the man.

The video shows the officer taking the man down in a hit that cross code superstar Sonny Bill Williams was famous for.

A police spokesman said they had been called to the Arthur Way tobacco store about 3.10am after two men allegedly tried to use implements to smash the front glass doors.

Police were later called to the Distillery Rd service station, about 3.40am, after reports of three men smashing the side counter window.

According to police, the men were unable to gain entry to the tobacco store but were successful in breaking into the service station.

A police spokesman said investigations were still ongoing.

It was currently unknown whether any property was stolen.

Police have been settinging up a taskforce following an increase in theft, arson and wilful damage incidents targeting vape and tobacco stores across the state.

Taskforce Victor Masher will target entrenched syndicates involved in the co-ordination of violent offences across Queensland.

Mr Beard was charged with several offences, including obstructing a police officer and enter premises with intent.

He appeared at the Southport Magistrates Court on July 4, with his matter adjourned until August 8.
