Triple J’s Hottest 100 Countdown parties this Saturday have become the preferred celebration for the younger generation who are ditching traditional Australia Day BBQs.

It comes amid the recurring debate about changing the national day.

A recent poll showed 60 per cent of Australians still wanted to keep Australia Day on January 26.

But a majority of people under 35 were in favour of changing the date.

Many councils now no longer hold official celebrations, or have scaled them back.

In 2017, Triple J changed the date of its Hottest 100 Countdown from Australia Day to the nearest Saturday.

We take a look at 10 Triple J events happening across the Greater Brisbane area this Saturday.
