Family have confirmed he died from respiratory failure after suffering chronic asthma for his entire life.

His son, Neil Grose, said doctors told Mr Grose he was unlikely to live past 21 because of his severe asthma.

Mr Grose was born in West End on June 16, 1928. He never knew his mother and was raised by his grandmother along with his two sisters.

Mr Grose and his wife, Fay Frances Grose, lived in Woodridge for 66 years and were beloved by locals.

There they had three children - Neil William Grose, Leonie Kay Grose, and Clifford Noel Grose.

Mr and Mrs Grose had seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

According to his son, Mr Grose loved his family, cricket, his favourite rugby league team the Broncos, golf, tennis, visiting Burleigh and dancing with his wife.

He was a founding member and life member of the Woodridge Cricket Club. The club was founded in 1947.

Mr Grose played cricket for 30 years at the club and was then an umpire for another 20 years. He was also the club’s long time treasurer.

When he wasn’t playing cricket, Mr Grose aenjoyed golf and was a life member at - and the treasurer for - the Logan Golf Club.

Neil Grose said his father also loved quoits and euchre.

He described his father as ‘hard working, loyal, gentle, loving, and generous’.
