SOUTHSIDE residents have found their daily commute a lot easier after traffic lights at a major Logan Motorway entry point were finally switched on this week.
SCHOOLS WITHOUT PHONES FOR THREE HOURS
A month after they were installed, the lights at the Station Rd and Jellicoe St intersection at Loganlea were finally switched on, giving motorists safer access to and from the motorway.
The federal government delivered a $1.4 million funding boost for the project, which cost Logan City Council $4.5 million.
New turning lanes and cycle lanes were also installed as part of the upgrade.
Logan City Council widened the road, installed new turning lanes, cycle lanes, and road drainage as part of the upgrade.
Council City Infrastructure committee chairperson Teresa Lane said the council and its delivery partners deserved full credit for completing works ahead of schedule.
But federal LNP MP for Forde Bert van Manen said the federal government had been working around the clock to finish the project.
“While the roads may be quiet, tradies are working around the clock to deliver the Morrison Government’s infrastructure projects in Logan,” he said.
“Whether it’s fixing the M1, relocating the Loganlea train station, upgrading the Mt Lindesay Highway, or building commuter car parks, I’m getting on with the job and delivering projects while it is safe to do so.”
Mr van Manen said he had also secured federal funding for upgrades to High Rd and Easterly St in Bethania and Chambers Flat Rd, between Park Ridge Rd and Derby Rd at Park Ridge in partnership with the council.
“I will be working closely with the new councillors to deliver these local road upgrades so we can employ more locals and get residents home sooner and safer.”
