Marsden jumped out of the blocks to lead 16-nil, with a try in the fourth minute to Dee Hurae getting the wheels in motion.

A second try came courtesy of winger Wiremu Willis who half volleyed a long ball from fullback Rodney McGuiness after forwards Faagutu, Stanley and Fuelema had laid a platform.

Second rower Mauai then powered over not long after and the match looked well in hand.

Ipswich, while looking capable, were unable to capitalise when Marsden lost some momentum through errors.

But Tyrea Bowman put the game to rest late in the half and Marsden deservedly finished unbeaten after being the best side all season.

In the exciting open reserves’ clash, Ipswich carried onto an unbeaten season, but not before Marsden gave them a huge scare.

Ipswich’s reserves dominated for the first 40 minutes but found themselves in trouble midway through the second half when Marsden SHS halfback Chambers Horua-Chase snatched two intercepts to score two long distance tries.
