Tasmin Anetts: Waterford woman pleads guilty to drink driving

A Logan woman has told a court she was celebrating a new job when she was busted drunk behind the wheel of her car.

A man has died after a stabbing at Waterford West

A Logan P-plater pulled over by police on the Pacific Motorway for a speeding offence had drunk four beers in the hour leading up to the offence, a court has heard.

Waterford woman Tasmin Kimberleigh Anetts, 25, told Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Tuesday she was celebrating securing a new job after she had been let go from her old job due to COVID-19 when she decided to get behind the wheel.

The court heard the incident occurred about 7pm on the evening of October 24.

Police intercepted Anetts at Slacks Creek in relation to a speeding offence and while they were speaking to her, detected the “smell of liquor” on her.

Anetts returned a reading of 0.084 per cent – the limit in Queensland for P-platers is zero.

She told police she had drunk four beers in quick succession before getting in her vehicle and driving.

Magistrate Michael O’Driscoll fined her $650 and disqualified her from driving for four months.

A conviction was recorded against her traffic record.
