Southside gang fears as family car stolen and dumped at Mabel Park State School

Parents at a southside school have aired their fears that a southside youth gang was roaming streets nearby after a stolen car was dumped in the school carpark yesterday.
Police were called to Mabel Park State School just before 8am yesterday when a stolen white Mazda four-wheel drive was reported trashed in the Aldrin St carpark.
Motorists spotted the car, with three juveniles inside, swerving across Kingston Rd during peak-hour traffic.
A broken back window and the erratic behaviour attracted the attention of one motorist, who grabbed a dashcam photo and reported it to police.
The car was recovered but was trashed inside with writing scrawled across the dashboard and the back window smashed.
A suburb-wide hunt was launched for the trio, believed to be as young as 12, after the joy ride in the car, which was stolen from Turner Ave in Ormeau Hills overnight on Monday.
Owner Jack Cooper posted a photo of the day he and his partner picked up their new car from a Gold Coast dealership.
“If anyone saw anything last night or saw anyone, can you message me and let me know,” he said.
“Sick of these little thieving rats around here. Would love nothing more than to find the culprit.”
This morning, Mabel Park State School is under surveillance and motorists have been asked to keep an eye out and lock their cars in the school carpark.
