A Logan youth worker has been fined $900 after a roadside police search revealed he was in possession of three different drugs, namely methamphetamine, acid, and “fantasy”.

Sanele Pat Ah San, 45, appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 27 on three charges: two counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of unlawfully possessing a relevant substance or thing.

He pleaded guilty to all offences.

Prosecutor Senior Constable Miller said police found the Woodridge man in possession of methamphetamine, acid, and fantasy on June 26 this year at Kingston.

Sgt Miller told the court police intercepted Ah San’s vehicle and, “as a result of conversation”, conducted a search.

The officers discovered a clipseal bag with about 0.3g of meth and one square tablet of acid hidden in his phone case.

A search of Ah San’s backpack revealed he was also in possession of two glass vials containing clear liquid “fantasy”.

The court heard the father-of-four had no criminal history and is currently employed with Anglicare, working mostly with youth in residential care.

Magistrate Mark Howden took into account Ah San’s early pleas of guilty and that the offending was “out of character”.

“I do have some qualms that you’re a residential care worker and you’ve got this on your phone,” she told Ah San.

“That rings some alarm bells for me.”

Despite the “red flag” the offending raised, she said given the low quantities and Ah San’s lack of a criminal history she would fine him $500 for possessing methamphetamine, $200 for possessing acid, and $200 for possessing fantasy.

No convictions were recorded.
