A plot to con a man out of his ute and cash has landed two people in court after they stole a car and fractured the man’s jaw in a Logan McDonald’s car park.

Beenleigh District Court heard on May 13 that Renee Le Holmes and Raid Mansour Slivo had devised a plan to steal a man’s ute on January 20, 2021 in Marsden.

The pair met the man while drinking at a party the night before and offered to buy his ute off him for $4000.

Slivo, 43, and Holmes, 32, met him at a McDonald’s car park befoe she ran over to the victim and demanded he give her the keys to his ute.

“Don’t f-----g cut my grass,” she yelled to the man.

The victim was dragged out of his car by the pair and thrown onto the ground.

He retreated to the McDonald’s and was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with a fractured jaw and swollen cheek bone.

Holmes drove away with the ute, $4000 in cash and other personal items in the car.

Holmes and Slivo pleaded guilty to armed robbery in company with personal violence.

Crown prosecutor Sam Rigby said Holmes was more at fault than Slivo and the violent nature of the offending was concerning.

“This is an example of violence in a public place... she was more directly involved in the offending,” he said.

The court heard the offending was committed at a time when Holmes’ life was marred by drug use.

Holmes has one daughter and has made attempts to turn her life around since 2021.

Judge Craig Chowdhury said the co-accused were lucky the man was not more seriously hurt or even killed.

“This was a planned, violent attack on a person,” he said.

“Whether you’re high on drugs or not you can’t do this, but I acknowledge you’ve made extensive efforts to better yourself.”

Holmes was sentenced to two-and-a-half years’ prison, suspended after serving 106 days.

She had already served 106 days in pre-sentence custody.

On March 16, 2023 in Beenleigh District Court, Slivo was sentenced to two years’ jail, wholly suspended.

He had already served 227 days in custody, which was taken into account.
