A teen was unknowingly shot at and peppered with shotgun pellets to the head and back during a bizarre altercation at a public park last night.

The 17-year-old boy was reportedly hit by 17 pellets to the back of the head, and a further 6 to his back during the fight at Logan Reserve between 6pm and 7pm.

Queensland Police say the teenager and two 18-year-old friends became involved in a physical altercation with another group while at the park.

The teen took himself to hospital about three hours later, with what he believed were stab wounds.

He didn't know he’d been shot until a CAT scan revealed the source of some of his injuries to be 23 shotgun pellets sprayed across the back of his body and head.

The Courier-Mail has been told the boy had gone to meet a group of people at the park to “discuss outstanding debts.”

Police are currently investigating whether the shotgun was fired from a passing vehicle while they continue to investigate the specifics of the incident.

Anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour in the area at the time is urged to contact police.
