A Beenleigh mother accused of grabbing a police officer by the crotch and spitting on their face has been granted bail after being ordered to submit to a disease test.

Nadia Renee Singh appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court charged with the serious assault of a police officer and obstructing police on Wednesday.

The court heard police had attended her Beenleigh home on July 13 in relation to a disturbance and further checks revealed there was a warrant out for her arrest at the time.

Police prosecutor Tim Wise said while the mum was being taken to the police car she became physically abusive and grabbed the crotch of one of the officers in an attempt to stop them from putting her in the car.

“During the short drive from the address to the police station the defendant continued to cause disturbances in the rear of the vehicle by thrashing around,” he said.

“Due to his behaviour police pulled the vehicle over to check on the welfare of the defendant.

“She then spat directly at the mouth and chin area of a constable.”

The Beenleigh mum, who represented herself in court, denied spitting on the officer.

Singh was ordered to provide a blood or urine test sample for a disease test order.

She was granted bail and remanded to appear again on July 28.
