A disgruntled ex-employee of a Logan Petbarn took revenge on her employer by facilitating a whopping theft of stock and cash as payback for her termination, a court has heard.

Seventeen Mile Rocks woman Cassandra Lauren Morgan, 28, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday to three charges, entering a premises to commit an indictable offence, possessing a relevant substance or thing, and possessing a drug utensil.

The court heard Morgan is a former employee of Petbarn Underwood, the victim business.

On September 23 last year, she helped facilitate a massive theft of her former employer in concert with an alleged co-accused who was also charged, the court heard.

The court was told Morgan facilitated the plunder of $5559 from the business, which consisted of stock and also cash taken from the safe.

Three days later, on September 26 at Nundah, Morgan was busted in possession of psychoactive drug gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and a needle and syringe.

Magistrate Kerrie O’Callaghan described Morgan’s offending as an “act of payback for the termination of her employment”.

“You were a participant in enabling that conduct,” she said, but conceded it was “opportunistic” offending, rather than sophisticated.

The court heard Morgan was “co-operative” with police when questioned.

Defence lawyer Michael Bosscher told the court his client had a good work history and aside from her stint at Petbarn, had worked a number of positions in the automotive industry.

Morgan was placed on six months’ probation and ordered to repay half the amount stolen from Petbarn, which equated to $2779.50.
