Friends of an Ipswich trail bike rider have posted haunting videos in a tribute to the teen who died tragically on the weekend after crashing his bike.

It was supposed to be a fun weekend trail bike ride but friends and family of Jaxson Davies are now in mourning, honouring the teen with heartbreaking Instagram videos.

The 15-year-old from Redbank Plains died when his red Honda trail bike left the road and crashed into a tree on a road at New Beith, in Logan on Sunday afternoon.

The teen, from Redbank Plains, was riding with another rider on New Beith Rd when it is believed he lost control of the bike at a sharp bend.

Ambulance officers and paramedics tried in vain to save the youngster’s life but police were handed the gruesome task of informing his family of his death just after 2.30pm.

He was the 213th person to die on Queensland roads this year, 17 more than at the same time last year.

The youngster, who hoped to one day be a brickie, was fondly remembered on Instagram and Facebook, with friends posting memorial trail bike videos in his honour.

Caleb Cribb posted footage from when the pair had been riding their trail bikes through pools of water at a flooded park recently.

“Rest easy Jaxson, you will be missed,” Caleb wrote across the video which plays Benson Boone’s heart-wrenching In The Stars in the background.

“Party hard up there cuz. Miss you, see you soon. I’ll make you proud on the bikes bruh.”

A second video explains Jaxson’s riding skills.

“Hardly lost control,” it says.

“If you did, you could regain it always o the back rear wheelor doing whips o the tracks.

“Last time we went riding it was crazy bro.

“I love ya brah.

“Imma miss you ma bro.

“I don’t wanna say goodbye cause this one means forever”

Friends also took to Facebook to remember the teen, who police said was wearing a helmet which was not fastened and was riding an unregistered motorcycle.

Outpourings of grief were posted on Facebook with friends Darios Willison and Shantelle Bate sending love to his Redbank Plains family including relatives Samantha and Craig Davies.

Mate Josh Turner said he would miss his friend.

“Jaxson Davies was a very kind person, always loved to ride his bike,” Josh said.

“(He) didn’t deserve what happened.

“(He) always made a smile on his mates’ face when he does some stupid stuff, always liked coming riding and having a yarn with you.

“He will always be in our hearts️.”

The road, which had a $17 million upgrade last year, connects to Tall Timber Road, a dirt track which has been dubbed as The Road to Nowhere.

The bend in the road is notorious and is where the bitumen of New Beith Road ends and a 4.7km pot-hole-ridden boggy track begins.

The track, earmarked for emergency vehicle access only, is highly popular with trail bike riders and graffiti artists but is off limits to cars.

On town plans, it is designated as a road reserve and is the only direct connection between the burgeoning 11,000-lot Flagstone housing estate and New Beith.

Resident Charmaine Ledwidge said the New Beith Rd bend was dangerous for drivers who failed to slow down before reaching the corner, where the bitumen ends.

“It is horrible and if you don’t slow down quickly it does creep up on you and you can easily lose control,” she said on Facebook.

Police said the pair was also believed to have been riding the unregistered trail bike on the Greenbank Arterial on Sunday morning.

There were also sightings of the duo near Camira with one motorist, Brenden Whittred, claiming one of the riders did not have a helmet.

Logan resident Julie Ashby said trail bike riders were constantly using the dirt track.

“I heard a motorbike but could barely see it as it had no lights,” she said.

“A rider overtook me and for a short moment I could see there was no helmet being worn.

“They sped off along Pub Lane, Greenbank.

“I don’t think this is a rare occurrence, riding trail bikes on the road.

“I have seen some on Old Logan Rd at Camira too. Perhaps some advertising to save lives wouldn’t go astray, reminders are good.”

State MP for the area Charis Mullen said in 2020, the state had fast-tracked sealing its section of New Beith Rd so residents only had to wait for 2350 lots to be developed as opposed to the original plan of 11,000 lots.

“There is a section of New Beith Rd, approximately 1.3km, to be constructed outside the Flagstone Priority Development Area which is the responsibility of Logan City Council,” she said at the time.

“The timing of this is a matter for Logan City Council in its prioritisation of local roads.”

Two years ago, Logan councillor Natalie Willcocks also blasted both Logan and the state government for failing to get their road funding priorities in the correct order and called for both to work together to fix the problem.

“We have seen road improvements completed because the council believes they are connecting residents, yet they are roads to nowhere because they don’t connect to main roads,” she said.

“Connecting New Beith Rd to Flagstone is still only in the pipeline with no time frame or deadline.”

To the dismay of locals, the massive $17 million spending did not result in New Beith Rd linking to the planned 11,000-lot Flagstone housing estate or the growing areas of Greenbank and New Beith.
