A former IT worker from Logan went on a violent, vodka-fuelled sexual spree through Fortitude Valley and Brisbane CBD, sexually assaulting two girls and attempting to rape a third, while physically assaulting the woman’s “brave” friend who tried to intervene.

Woodridge man Orion Isaac Milton Liddle-Christie, 27 pleaded guilty in Brisbane District Court on Monday to seven offences.

They included assault with intent to rape and two counts each of sexual assault, common assault and wilful damage.

The court heard all offences occurred in a two-hour period on the night of November 20–21 last year.

About 10.30pm, Liddle-Christie began his reign of terror, attacking a woman walking from a Fortitude Valley bus stop after work.

He grabbed her from behind, pulled at her clothes, held her arms and attempted to “squeeze” her tightly to him, before she fought back and got away.

He and his associate then walked towards the CBD, where they attempted to enter a pub.

When Liddle-Christie was refused entry due to his intoxication, he smashed a window.

He and his associate then continued to move towards the CBD, where the most shocking incident occurred outside a convenience store on Felix St, near the Stamford Plaza.

Liddle-Christie accosted two girls sitting in a bench and violently assaulted one of them with an intention to rape her.

“If CCTV footage hadn’t been recorded, her account would have beggared belief,” Crown prosecutor Lara Soldi told the court.

Liddle-Christie ripped at her clothes so violently she was lifted off the ground; he pulled her bra off so that her breasts were exposed; he dragged her across a road; and he manhandled her so aggressively her fake nails were wrenched from her fingertips.

He also assaulted her “brave’” friend when she tried to intervene, as did his associate.

Following the attempt to rape the woman, Liddle-Christie then proceeded to a nearby hotel, where he reached into the singlet top of a woman sitting on a bench outside and squeezed her breast.

When she objected, he told her, “I thought you were a prostitute,” the court heard.

Defence counsel Timothy Ryan told the court his client, who went to high school at Mount Gravatt” was heavily intoxicated on vodka at the time of his vile spree, a drink he hadn’t consumed very much of previously.

He said his client previously worked in IT for a period up until 2016 and was the eldest of three children.

Liddle-Christie was jailed for five years.

He will be eligible for parole on May 2, 2022.
