LOGAN City Council has smoothed the way for customers at the popular Browns Plains Waste and Recycling Facility with a new access road.

Recycle Way will run off Bayliss Rd, improving vehicle flow and separating traffic between the Browns Plains Waste and Recycling Facility, which houses the Logan Recycling Market, and the Logan Metro Sports Park.

Health, Environment and Sustainability chairperson Cr Lisa Bradley said the $3 million facelift would benefit the users of both facilities.

“Council recognised the popularity of the Browns Plains Waste and Recycling Facility and the playing fields and acted to ensure their growth would be sustainable,” Cr Bradley said.

“The new road will make access much easier and improve safety for patrons.”

Division 9 councillor Phil Pidgeon said Recycle Way showed council was on the ball about improving valuable community assets.

“The new separate entrance will improve traffic flow and make the journey to the tip a lot safer,” Cr Pidgeon said.

“The Logan Recycling Market has been a huge success and this will ensure that it remains popular into the future.”

The old entry off Browns Plains Road will remain open only for access to sporting fields and the Logan Metro Indoor Sports Centre.

Prior to construction, council engaged a heritage consultant, who identified and salvaged indigenous cultural heritage items in the site.

The project was completed by BMD Urban.
