Cameron Smith’s home region of Logan City is widely known as one of the finest talent pools for NRL players, and now the secret is out about Logan’s wealth of skilful female league players.
Three schoolgirls — Keilee Joseph and Diaz Seumanutafa (both Mabel Park SHS) and Keisharn Hala (from Smith’s old school of Marsden SHS) — have been chosen in the Inaugural Gold Coast Titans Women’s Combine top 36 squad.
The girls were among 200 applicants for the positions and were chosen after impressing in a trial.
Former Mabel Park SHS student Jessikah Reeves has also been picked up by the Broncos on a development contract..

In addition Joseph and her class mate from Mabel Park SHS, Rease Casey, have also been absorbed into the Sydney Roosters NRLW training system while another two Mabel Park SHS players, Courtney Tamati and Nakita Sao, played for the Queensland under State of Origin team this year and were being monitored by talent scouts.
Joseph has been a trailblazer for her peers in Logan, frequently travelling to Sydney to train and play with the Roosters prior to interest from the Titans.
She said was learning a lot from the Sydney club.
“Being involved with the Roosters was an amazing experience, I’m really looking forward to playing in the Roosters Tarsha Gale Cup comp again next year,’’ the 17-year-old said.
“I have also been invited to fly to Sydney to attend a couple of training sessions with the Roosters NRLW team in early September. I am so excited it will be an amazing experience.’’
Joseph, who has not formally signed with the Roosters, said being invited to train with the Titans inaugural squad was also an “amazing honour’’.
“I am only 17 so unfortunately I am unable to play in the exhibition match to be played prior to the final Titans’ home game on Saturday,’’ she said.
“However the experience and skills I will gain from being involved in the (Titans) program will be amazing.’’
She said coaches at her Logan City club, Waterford RLFC, and her school, Mabel Park SHS, had been instrumental in developing her skills to the extent that two NRL clubs have her under the microscope.
“At my school of Mabel Park SHS I am fortunate to be involved in the All Female Rugby League Excellence Program,’’ she said.
