Marsden State High students to face off in global eSports FIFA competition
Two students from a Logan high school will go head to head in a prestigious eSports FIFA competition which has captured the attention of the world’s best gamers.

THE world’s best gamers will be watching a Logan high school tomorrow after students at the school won the top two spots in an international eSports competition.
Marsden State High School year 10 students Jeremy Wood and Maxwell Yoshida from Team Marsden Makos and Team MSHS, entered the Federation of United Schools Esports Cup this term.
They worked their way through the international field of players from Australia, New Zealand, Italy and Canada to meet up in the Grand Final.

Both are enrolled in Marsden High’s football and academic Excellence Programs, but only one will take home the FUSE Cup, which is part of the FIFA20 season one competition on Xbox One.
The pair beat a field of 16 competitors in the elimination-style competition resulting in an all Marsden State High School Grand Final.
The competition was open to all gamers around the world and not just school kids.
The FUSE Cup was designed to help players through the coronavirus when traditional school sports and competitions were cancelled.

The eSports competitions are normally run in schools, but due to COVID-19 they were moved online which resulted in a wider audience as some competitions were open to the general public.
Marsden coach Cameron Lynch said both Jeremy and Max had the skills on and off the field for football.
“Football is more than a sport,” he said. “It’s the perfect balance of mental and physical fitness and Jeremy and Max are positive role models for our school as they inspire others with their compassion and determination through football and their academic studies.”
The Fuse Cup Xbox One FIFA20 Grand Final will be on Tuesday, June 16 at Marsden State High School’s Centre of Excellence Performing Arts.
Amazing prizes are up for grabs throughout each level of the FUSE Cup with a prize pool of more than $5000.
