A LOGAN school has chalked up major wins at the state’s most prestigious awards for teachers held in Brisbane last night.
Marsden State High School was nominated for four awards at last night’s Queensland College of Teachers TEACHX Awards and claimed victory in the prestigious Leadership and Learning award.
They are the only state government awards to recognise teachers from all schooling sectors from early childhood all the way through to year 12.
Principal Andrew Peach won the Excellent Leadership in Teaching and Learning Award, edging out other finalists from Ormiston College, Kelvin Grove College, Mackay College and Emmaus College.
Mr Peach said he was thrilled with the award which he said showed the school was focusing on what mattered.
“Leadership and school learning were important to me and that has been recognised,” Mr Peach said.
“But the part I am most proud about is the recognition for the whole school,” Mr Peach said.
“It’s hard when you get individual awards when you know there is strength from a whole team that does the bulk of the work across the whole community.
“We are really lucky at Marsden to have such a large school with so many great teachers.”
But the school’s accolades also extended to three other teachers.
Marsden’s Tom Patterson was nominated the Innovation in Teaching Award.
Mr Patterson played an integral part in the school’s Mana program helping senior students and those in year 12 to get into the workforce by learning about construction.
