HOUSING in parts of Logan is at a premium especially for people with a disability.
But that’s all about to change when the investment arm of Logan City Council takes on a groundbreaking project to build a community housing project in Marsden.
InvestLogan chair Steve Greenwood said the project was unique as it would provide housing possibilities for people with disabilities or those seeking refuge and give ratepayers a return on their money.
He said there had been more than 30 expressions of interest from organisations in three weeks for the site, a former Logan City Council block of land.
“We have yet to assess all applications but we are seeking a partner who will be innovative.,” Mr Greenwood said.
“The type of facility we end up building will depend on who we partner with but we are open to all types of suggestions.
“We are looking for out-of-the-box submissions and exemplar design that will really make a difference to the lives of the future residents.
“But the building will fit into a suburban street and won’t look out of place.”
Mr Greenwood said InvestLogan was yet to be determined whether the accommodation would be full-time or for respite care but a range of options could include facilities for blind people and those seeking emergency accommodation.
Submissions close on March 15 at 5pm.
