Pearson Rd at Yatala will get a new $2million roundabout to keepo traffic moving at the Computer Rd intersection.

The project builds on $3 million the federal government spent in the lead up to last year’s federal election when it promised to upgrade Pearson Rd and Darlington Drive intersection.

The upgrade is required to meet the demands of the growing Yatala Enterprise Area and will allow the road to cope with more and bigger trucks.

Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack made the funding announcement with Forde MP Bert van Manen this morning.

He said $290 million would go to 350 projects around the country to upgrade and replace bridges to allow for trucks.

He said nearly 80 per cent of the funding would go to local councils to ensure key freight routes were more efficient and safer.

“I know how important it is to have safer and less congested roads for these businesses. It means they can save time, save money and importantly, reinvest in their business and employ more locals,” he said
