ONE suburb has gone the whole hog in its steak-eating abilities.
Hog’s Breath Loganholme has been named the busiest franchise out of 70 stores across Australia, serving 125,000 steak-lovers in 12 months.
The popular steakhouse turned over just under $4 million in the past financial year and cooked up about 50,000 prime rib steaks.
Franchisee Mark Allen had a hunch why the Loganholme store was so well patronised.
“I think the Logan area is really ground zero for what I like to call Hoggies people,” Mr Allen said.
“The menu and atmosphere is loved by the typical Aussie — and I think that’s what Logan has.”
Mr Allen said the most popular meal on the menu was the blackened prime rib steaks, which made up 40 per cent of orders.
The store opened at the Logan Hyperdome in 2005 and for the last 10 years has been under the management of Wes David.
It is the second year the franchise has taken out the top volume sales award at the Hog’s Breath annual conference in Bali.
“We’ve been in a five year tussle with a Hog’s Breath in Western Australia in a place called Rockingham,” Mr Allen said.
“It’s normally us or them and for the last two years it’s been us.”
The first Hog’s Breath opened in July 1989 at Airlie Beach and next year the chain will celebrate 30 years of serving Australian families.
