A Logan father, previously convicted of having carnal knowledge of relations with a child, has faced court after police found a string of undeclared social media accounts.

Woodridge father, Manariyo Wachawasme, 29, was caught breaching his bail conditions, having multiple unreported social media accounts and failing to report his whereabouts to police.

Wachawasme pleaded guilty to 16 charges, including breaching bail conditions and failing to comply with reporting and giving false information.

“He failed to comply with child protection offender prohibition orders,” police prosecutor Senior Constable Jones told Beenleigh Magistrates Court.

“He failed to report the use of a Snapchat account and Instagram account, an email account and a Tinder account.

“This current offending breaches the suspended sentence for like offending.

“This has shown that the defendant is not suitable to be in the community and is at serious risk to members of the public.”

Wachawasme was previously convicted and sentenced to nine months imprisonment after he was charged with having carnal knowledge of relations with a child.

His lawyer Shaye Chapman said his client, who was born in Kenya, had a difficult upbringing.

“His sister died from malaria, his mother died of malaria. His father died in the war,” Mr Chapman said.

Mr Chapman said Wachawasme would benefit from supervision if released from prison.

“The interesting thing about Manariyo’s criminal history is that when he was out in the community and had supervision he seemed to comply with it,” he said.

“With a period of probation that could rehabilitate him essentially.”

Magistrate Pamela Dowse said Wachawasme would need to comply with court orders.

“That is a very sad beginning to your life but you will end up in jail for the rest of your life if you continue,” Ms Dowse said.

Wachawasme said he would not return to jail.

“I don’t want to see myself here again, your honour,” he said.

“I promise you, you won’t see me here again.”

Wachawasme was convicted and received a head sentence of 8 months’ jail, with immediate parole.

His 55 days served in pre-custody was declared as time served.

Convictions were recorded.
