The teenage girl struck by a car at Daisy Hill on July 15 has woken from her coma.

Thirteen-year-old Kirra was placed in the induced coma after suffering critical brain injuries when she was struck by a car while walking to school on Old Chatswood Rd.

She also suffered a broken bone in her ear, fractures to her rib, pelvis, scapula and skull from the impact.

The teen rushed to hospital where she received immediate brain surgery.

An MRI later showed she had suffered damage to the front of the brain — responsible for problem solving, movement, behavioural and emotional control.

A Go Fund Me page was set up to help the family and Kirra’s medical expenses and has so far raised almost $15,000.

“This has taken a massive toll on her family who have been by her side around the clock since the accident,” it said.

“This will be a long road ahead medically, emotionally, and financially for Kirra and her family.”

Yesterday, an update to supporters explained the girl had was undergoing physio and could wriggle her toes and open and close her hands.

“We are still waiting for Kirra to have communication through speech as this was an issue with the part of the brain damaged,” it read.

“ENT will do a formal hearing test with her once she is sitting up a bit more.

“(An) MRI showed that one of the skull fractures had damaged the bone in her ear and it was likely to have significant hearing loss.

“We are all praying for a miracle that she will be healed completely.”

Support has also come pouring in for the young dancer and student of Intrinsic School of Dance, Rochedale South.

“I’ve really missed going to hip hop classes this year, because I’ve really missed seeing you,” said friend Hayley Shea.

“You are one of the kindest, most beautiful-hearted people I’ve ever met... I wish you a speedy recovery.”
