A private school south of Brisbane is grappling with a case of COVID-19 after a female staff member tested positive for the virus yesterday.
Queensland Health said Parklands Christian College has told students to stay away and the school is closed today.
A letter from the school confirmed the female staff member had been diagnosed with the infection after returning to Queensland from interstate.
She is working closely with Queensland Health and is in isolation.
The letter also tells parents to isolate unwell members of their family immediately.
Queensland Health said the school would temporarily close until further notification to allow for cleaning and work will commence on contact tracing.
Queensland Health is also working to determine where the virus may have been acquired, including working with the woman to gather necessary information about places she may have visited whilst infectious.
“As always, we strongly recommend everyone with symptoms to immediately get tested,” Queensland Health said.
The new case brings the Queensland COVID-19 total to 1077, with six active cases.
