Australia's Shame: Horrifying trend in violence against women

A 34-year-old man from Loganlea who allegedly threatened to burn down his family home while his wife and children were still inside has been denied bail.

Text messages and recorded phone conversations tendered to police showed the father of two made threats to kill and burn down his family home.

Police prosecutor Sgt Wendy Moman told Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Thursday police will allege that several threats were made to the victims earlier this month as a result of them reporting a domestic violence matter to police.

She read out examples of some of the violent text messages the man had allegedly sent to his wife.

“Oi do you think I give a f**k about kids being in the house and s**t when I’m burning the c**ts down you have another thing coming,” he said.

The court heard the Loganlea man was currently unemployed and is facing five counts of contravening a domestic violence order, including one count which is an aggravated offence.

The man was denied bail due to the unacceptable risk of breaching bail and endangering the welfare of the victims if released.
