Ian Spierenburg: Eagleby man to stand trial for indecent treatment

A Logan man has been committed to the Beenleigh District Court after his defence conceded there was a prima facie case against him for allegedly indecently assaulting a young girl four times.
Eagleby man Ian Thomas Spierenburg, 34, was charged in early-2019 with four counts of indecent treatment of a girl under the age of 12.
The alleged assaults were said to have occurred on dates between January 1 – December 31, 2018, at a Logan residence.
According to evidence adduced during cross-examination of three witnesses, the alleged victim reported the alleged assaults on January 14, 2019.
A complaint was made two weeks later, on January 28.
The alleged assaults are said to have involved Mr Spierenburg placing his hands down the pants of the young girl.
According to evidence given by the alleged victim’s mother, the young girl “still struggles” with what she claims happened and “doesn’t like to talk about it”.
“She asked to get a haircut and chopped it all off,” the mother Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday.
Mr Spierenburg’s charges will be mentioned in the District Court on a date to be set.
He has not entered a plea.
