A funky pizza parlour in Shailer Park has been named as serving up Logan’s best pizza.

Mosaic Pizza owner Louis Oberleuter, who has moved to innovate the industry since he first opened his Bryants Rd restaurant in 2015, was thrilled to win the title.

“It’s something that I’ve always wanted and a great credit to my customers who have definitely put their money where their mouths are,” Mr Oberleuter said.

“At the moment, I am working on a secret menu which will only be available to our loyal customers who are invited to join via a Facebook page.

“But I can reveal it will have special items named after customers such as Ms Kahl Pasta, Nya Pizza and the Mistake Pizza.”

Mr Oberleuter said his triumphant Mistake Pizza had been a hit with customers even though it was never meant to be.

A special blend of toppings were “mistakenly” thrown together to make an “awesome” specialty which will only be available on Mosaic Pizza’s Secret Menu, when it becomes available in the next month.

Each year, the restaurant attracts a large crowd to watch as contestants try to gobble down one of Louis’ 13 inch pizzas in record times.

Mr Preston said the competition was tough with The Hills Pizzeria at Daisy Hill taking out second spot.

Owner Nathan Aiyach said the business had grown a reputation for being typically Italian and generous with its toppings.

When it opened in 2011, it immediately aimed to catch the authentic Italian cuisine market and its slogan “Pizza is more than food … pizza is an art” took off.

It’s fully covered Pepperoni Pizza has also been a hit even though its originals are from the United States.

Mr Preston said four of the nominated pizza parlours gained the similar numbers of votes.

Crust Pizza at Rochedale South came in third place, which it shared with two others.
