Logan is bracing for more floods delaying the clean-up with just hours after a Mud Army was mobilised.

Education Minister Grace Grace said southside schools were making individual decisions about sending students home today.

However, Ms Grace said tomorrow schools would only be open for children of essential workers across the southeast.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has warned people north of Brisbane to go and collect their children as a severe storm is on its way and more are to come.

The Bremer River in Ipswich and the Logan River at Beaudesert were experiencing major rises with renewed flooding expected.

The Moreton Bay Region was the premier’s major concern and she told everyone that students were safe at the moment but urged parents to go and get them as soon as possible.

She said conditions would be unstable for the next 24 hours and told people to stay at home with schools expected to close temporarily.

“It’s a serious situation and these are unprecedented times,” the Premier said.

Traffic was at a standstill across southeast Queensland despite two major bridges in Logan reopening this morning.

The Maclean Bridge was closed on Tuesday after being swamped with water, landlocking some residents living along the Logan River, just outside Jimboomba.

Both bridges reopened overnight but had little effect in reducing traffic jams in Beenleigh and Eagleby.

The Mt Lindesay Highway at Jimboomba and cable Camp Rd remains closed and is not expected to reopen today.

“Logan Reserve is still causing a lot of concern with the problem being that it is isolated and that makes it hard.”

He said many residents in the area had no running water, no hot showers or electricity for four days.

The state government brought in clean-up crews from north Queensland with many expected to visit isolated sites at Buccan and Logan Reserve today.

Those communities are expected to remain isolated until the weekend with no electricity.

Resident Courtney King said she was looking forward to getting out to the shops.

Stay safe to our clients and all the community along the Logan River. We have had 408mm of rain since Wednesday up to 9am this morning. What are the totals at your place?— in North Maclean, Queensland.

Logan was in the path of a severe thunder storm coming in from the west this morning with hail predicted as roads start to reopen this morning.

Flash flooding is also expected but flooding on a par with previous days is not expected.

The Bureau of Meteorology said damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding.
