POLICE are spending the morning door knocking south of Brisbane after a body was found in a barrel in the back of a ute in Stapylton.
Police said they wanted to question a 34-year-old man they believed may able to assist with their inquiries and said they were looking for a silver 2014 Holden Commodore with a sunroof and Queensland registration 966 WKB.
Detective Acting Inspector Grant Ralston said police were close to identifying the body and would release further details today.
Det Insp Ralston spent the night at the scene where police set up an investigation at 1.30pm yesterday.
Officers had been attending a Buccan address as part of inquiries into a missing teenager.
When police arrived at Buccan, they said a person left in a black ute.
The vehicle was later tracked and located a short time later in a mobile home park at Stapylton.
Police confirmed the badly decomposed body of a teenage girl was found in the barrel.
