Dominic Graveson: Marsden hoon’s outrageous excuse for doughnut

A 20-year-old Logan hoon has copped a big fine and six months’ disqualification in court.

Polair called to track southside hoons

A young Logan hoon left a police vehicle “engulfed in smoke” after performing a doughnut which resulted in a mushroom cloud of burnt rubber, a court has heard.

Marsden man Dominic Vitor Mervyn Graveson, 20, pleaded guilty to a single charge of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday heard the hooning occurred in the industrial estate at Crestmead, an area which frequently sees up to 300 vehicles on a Saturday night, police prosecutor A/Snr Sgt Kellie Cullen told the court.

About 1am on Sunday, November 8, police were patrolling on Magnesium Dr when they heard the “heavy acceleration” of a vehicle.

They witnessed a silver Ford Falcon “engulfed in smoke”, rotating in a clockwise direction.

It then sped off southbound down Rai Dr.

Police were required to slow to a crawl as they entered the cloud of acrid smoke, before they intercepted Graveson, a P-plater, with two passengers.

Graveson told the officers his “handbrake was stuck” and he was unable to produce his driver’s licence, the court heard.

Defence lawyer Lex Weddell told the court his client had little traffic history and was about to start a warehousing job.

Magistrate Michael O’Driscoll said the manoeuvre was “very foolish”.

“If your handbrake really was stuck, you would think you would stop driving,” he said.

Graveson was fined $1000 and disqualified from driving for six months.

No conviction was recorded.
