A SUPPORT centre for refugees and migrants will open its doors as hundreds of people take to the streets to celebrate diversity in Logan Central this weekend.
The Access Gateway at 91 Wembley Rd will provide employment, training and social programs and will open on the same day as the 2016 Walk Together Logan.
Access chief executive Gail Ker said the walk theme “we share our future” perfectly reflected their vision.
“At The Access Gateway new arrivals can be supported every step of the way from arrival right up to autonomy,” she said.
“It is a welcoming space wherein community engagement and collaboration can be fostered and people from all backgrounds can come together to share resources and indeed, a future.
“By creating a single location where all our services can be accessed, The Access Gateway encapsulates our vision of offering a no wrong door policy to vulnerable individuals such as newly arrived refugees, Aboriginal and Pacific Islanders and people with disabilities.”
Walk Together Logan will start at The Gateway at 11am, on Saturday, October 22, and finish at the Logan Gardens where participants can join in a multicultural festival with food, community stalls and live entertainment including a Burmese kite fighting demonstration.
