A PROPOSAL to relocate two Woodridge schools was discussed when more than 200 attended a forum to rejuvenate Logan Central today.
The grandiose plans, which also included building a boardwalk wending through gardens to a sports hub and picnic area next to Logan City Council offices were some of the other suggestions raised at the Logan Central Summit.
The plan to relocate Woodridge State School and neighbouring Logan City Special School about 500m to a site next to the existing Woodridge State High School fuelled much debate.
Council City Centres chairman Cr Jon Raven said if the two schools were relocated, there would be room to plan for migrant housing and possibly a TAFE college.
However, he said nothing had been decided even though a School Sites Planning Study between council and the state government had found the area was ideal for an international learning centre.
The forum was the council’s latest bid to kickstart one of its town centres, said Cr Russell Lutton who is also the council’s chairman of its economic development committee.
Three previous summits have been held in the city. The first was at Springwood in 2016, the second at Beenleigh in November and this year’s Logan Village forum.
Speakers at the forum included urban designers and planners Lucinda Hartley and Cathryn Chatburn along with engineer and urban strategist Steven Burgess.
