Lines were 50 people deep at a Beenleigh polling station, which was opened for voters in the Macalister and Waterford electorates.

Border security, a need for change, road upgrades and a second M1 were the issues that voters from all sides of politics were interested in from the Beenleigh booth for the Macalister electorate.

Both parties launched their election campaigns on the weekend with the Labor Party using a Beenleigh plumbing training centre as the backdrop.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s promises included voluntary assisted dying legislation along with major investments in health and education including free TAFE for everyone under 25.

After a lacklustre week for the LNP which included claims about fundraisers with property develoeprs, yesterday’s launch gave voters a carrot of a second M1 plus a mega dam in the Burdekin.

There are now 13 days before election day.
