A Bethania fence installer who drunkenly broke into a retirement village, forcing fearful residents to bar themselves inside their homes, claims he has no recollection what happened.
Conor William Innes, 25, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday to enter premises with intent and serious assault of police by spitting.
The court heard the father of three broke into a residence at a retirement village in Bethania while drunk on July 4, 2021.
He allegedly smashed some glass and residents inside the home were forced to bar themselves inside out of fear.
Police arrived and took him to the hospital but he spat at one of the officers in the face in Meadowbrook.
Inne’s lawyer told the court that he had been drinking at a friend’s place and claims to have no recollection of what took place.
She he suspects some of his drink may have been spiked.
Magistrate Ron Kilner said he noted that Inne’s had a history of like offending for assaulting police.
“Spitting on a police officer is the most disgusting, vile and repulsive act that you can think of and not only have you done it once, you’ve done it on several occasions,” he said.
“You have absolutely no regard for anyone but yourself.”
He was sentenced to nine months imprisonment with an immediate parole date.
He was also ordered to pay $750 in compensation to the police officer he spat on.
