A Beenleigh man’s year-long sexual abuse of a young teen girl has been revealed in court, where he admitted to making a child exploitation video and warning her to not tell anyone.
The defendant, 26, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh District Court on December 12, 2022 to having an unlawful sexual relationship with a person under 16 and creating and possessing child exploitation material.
Over the course of a year, starting on October 1, 2020, the defendant had sex with the young teen girl about 100 times.
On October 15, 2021, in Browns Plains, police found him in possession of child exploitation material including material he had created.
He told the victim on several occasions not to tell anybody as he would get in trouble with the law.
The defendant’s defence lawyer said police became aware of the offending because the victim was “angry” he was “cheating on her” and told authorities as a way to get “revenge”.
The defence said there was no force or coercion involved and the defendant “was not a predator”.
“You told the complainant daily not to tell anyone because you knew it was an illegal relationship,” Judge Craig Chowdhury said.
“You took advantage of her.”
He was sentenced to four years’ jail, suspended for four years after having already serving 423 days in pre-sentence custody.
