Ashley Mogg, alleged man who drove into cop in Alberton hotel getaway appears in court

A man who allegedly drove over a police officer in a stolen car while escaping from a Gold Coast hotel, has appeared in court.

The man accused of running over a police officer in a stolen car in Alberton on the morning of October 19 has faced a Logan court.

Ashley Mogg, 26, from Upper Coomera appeared in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today, October 20, charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving without a license and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

No plea was entered and his matter was adjourned until December 7, with his defence seeking a brief of evidence for November 24.

There was no application for bail.

The incident occurred on October 19 when police allege Mr Mogg and his partner fled from an arrest at Gem Hotel on Stapylton Jacobs Well Rd, Alberton in a stolen silver Captiva.

The silver Captiva was allegedly stolen on October 17 from Browns Plains.

Queensland police allege a detective senior constable tried to stop the pair from fleeing and was struck by the car.

The 32-year-old officer was taken to hospital with serious scrapes and bruising and was released later that evening.

A Queensland Police spokesman alleged the couple was then seen getting into a ride share car on the Logan Motorway before driving to Barossa St, Kingston.

The driver’s partner was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and the Eagleby woman, 26, is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on November 11.

A third alleged offender, a 33-year-old Woodridge man was inside the hotel at the time and was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle too.

He appeared in Southport Magistrates Court today.
