Police prosecutor Sergeant Donna Kay told the court the total value of all of the frauds Hughes was charged with was over $100,000.

She said Hughes was previously sentenced in district court in relation to a large number of fraud offences worth over $60,000 on October 15 and received a head sentence of four years with a parole eligibility date on January 13, 2022.

Hughes lawyer told the court his family was prepared to support him and were aware he was “ill in relation to a drug and gambling addiction.”
