Logan residents turned out in their thousands to mark Anzac Day 2023.

Hundreds of Logan families gathered this morning to honour and pay respect to Australia’s veterans past and present at Anzac Day 2023 commemorations across the city.

Veterans, their families, fellow defence personnel and locals packed Kokoda St in Beenleigh to march or wave at the 9.30am event.

The rain held off to allow schools including Canterbury College, Windaroo State School, Eagleby State School, Trinity College and Bethania Lutheran School to place wreaths and memorabilia at Beenleigh Memorial Park.

Over at Springwood, it was a family affair for the popular 7.45am march, with many gathering at the local park after for a chat and a coffee.

Hundreds also turned out to the annual commemoration at Greenbank.

The Brown and Bliss family. Nate Bliss became a cadet four months ago.

Commanding Officer Mark Hippisley marched with his daughter Olivia, who has been accepted into a cadets program in Canberra for children aged over 13, even though she is still just 11 years old.

“Olivia is one of the youngest to be accepted this early. It’s such an achievement,” the proud dad said.

“We’ve had a fantastic day. It’s amazing to get so many generations out here together to commemorate the day.’’

Logan’s “Grannie’’ Bliss said she also was proud of her cadets grandson and said the pair had a wonderful morning marking Anzac Day.

“He’s (her grandson) really enjoying the cadet program. I’m so proud of him,” she said.
