Snr Const Hill also alleged Bastow-Russell threatened to shoot his young victim.

She also revealed the defendant had a litany of outstanding charges and a history of breach bail conditions and court orders.

Snr Const Hill told the court Bastow-Russell had failed to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Friday, the day before these offences were allegedly committed.

He also has four previous failures to appear in 2018 – 19.

He has previously breached probation and community service orders, and breached bail three times last year.

In addition to these, Bastow-Russell has a surfeit of outstanding charges, which include possessing dangerous drugs, stealing motor vehicles, burglary, fraud, receiving tainted property, forgery and stealing, with many of them due for mention in October.

Bastow-Russell was the only one in court surprised when Magistrate Michael O’Driscoll denied bail.

“F****** hell,” he screamed, jumping to his feet, rattling his chains and howling.

Mr O’Driscoll terminated the link at the outburst.

His two charges will be mentioned again in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on August 21.
